On 23 October we held our annual Trust Governance Conference, which was attended by leaders, Members, Trustees and Academy Committee Governors from across the Trust.  

Andrew Hill, our Chair of Trustees, began the evening by giving an overview of where the Trust is currently, celebrating the achievements of the last year, looking at how the Trust has grown and the challenges ahead. 

Sharon Burt, our CEO, then gave a presentation on the current context, nationally and locally.  Sharon shared the impact of the Solent Academies Trust outreach offer.  Delegates discussed the following topics: 

• What do you regard as the most significant opportunities and challenges of maintaining great governance into the future? What should we do to deal with these? 

• How do you know from a governance perspective that high quality inclusive teaching and learning takes place in our schools? 

• How can we feed into the national needs for SEND & Inclusion without adversely impacting the quality of provision in our academies? 

It was a an inspiring evening; we are very grateful to all our volunteers who provide our Trust and schools with their support and challenge.
