Behind the Scenes of the Railway 200 Flashmob!
Before they wowed the crowds in Guildhall Square on 17th June, the dancers spent weeks rehearsing for the big performance – and here’s a peek into all the hard work that went into it.
As part of the nationwide Railway 200 celebrations, dozens of our students joined over 100 dancers from schools, colleges, and community organisations across Portsmouth.
Together, they created an energetic eight-minute flashmob to mark 200 years of the modern railway – a performance made possible thanks to the Great Western Railway’s Customer and Community Improvement Fund.
From the first practice to the final moves, our students showed incredible commitment, creativity, and teamwork. This video captures the energy, fun, and determination that went into preparing for such a special event.
Huge thanks to Great Western Railway, Railway 200, and all the staff, students, and community partners who made this celebration possible.
Sharon Burt, CEO, Solent Academies Trust commented: “I am so incredibly proud to see the growth and confidence of all the pupils involved, such a testament to the hard work of all the staff supporting this wonderful achievement for the pupils”.
